Harald Harðráði is a real person who appears in several historical traditions and languages: the Icelandic Heimskringla; the East Slavic Tale of Bygone Years; the Byzantine Greek Chronographia; the Old English Anglo Saxon Chronicle; the Church Latin Deeds of the Bishops of Hamburg.
